OBA Summer Camps Are Going On The Road! Drayton Valley, AB

Apr. 14, 2023

July 3rd-7th 9:00am-12:00pm

Drayton Valley, AB

Frank Maddock High School

Grades 2-6

Cost $180

This is a crucial age to get kids excited about basketball and the love of the game. Players at this age range need to be coached differently than Jr High or High school-aged players.

The younger players will be grouped together and be able to learn from the older players as they have more experience. There will also be the chance to work with the older players for mentoring opportunities.

Coach to player ratios will be very low. We feel that players at this age need more attention and specific feedback, so we will make sure to have plenty of coaches on hand to help these younger players. Drills and skills will focus on game-like activities rather than the traditional ways of running camps. Research has stated (time and time again) that players learn more through simulated games. Yes, we will be teaching fundamental skills, but we will be spicing them up so that they are age-specific and age-appropriate.

Players will receive a camp t-shirt, take-home workbook and practice guide at the end of the camp. Click Here to register!

Okotoks Basketball Association (OBA) is running a joint Jr High and High school aged Basketball Camp for athletes going into Gr 7-12. There are many advantages of running a camp like this. Some of those advantages include role modeling, having the chance to play with older players, leadership opportunities, and the pure excitement of having a large age range of players.

The camp will have many experienced coaches to help players develop their love of the game. Coach-to-player ratios will be low to ensure players get the individual attention they need. OBA is famous for our coaches forming relationships with our campers so that players and campers are excited to come back year after year.

The camp will focus on the latest concepts of skill development and style of play. This means OBA has instituted a modern style of play that is supported by Canada Basketball and Alberta Basketball. The camp will be a mixture of skills, drills, and gameplay.

Players will receive a camp t-shirt, take-home workbook and summer practice guide at the end of the camp. Click Here to register!
